Electric Glue poaches Sky commercial exec
Electric Glue has appointed Sky’s Paul Barrett as director of partnerships.
Barrett joins from the broadcaster, where he has been head of commercial partnerships for the past eight years.
A new role, Barrett will directly report to managing director Tim Heden and formulate strategic alliances with other businesses, as well as maximise partnership opportunities.
At Sky, Barrett focused on sport, business scale-ups and sustainability. He was a co-founder of Sky’s Zero Footprint Fund.
The fund has run for three years, starting in 2021, and awards £2m-worth of Sky’s media space to sustainable businesses.
Electric Glue co-founder Simon Orpin said the agency was “delighted” to have appointed Paul. Talking about Barrett’s role, Orpin said: “In particular he will help us shine a light on the partnership process where we have strong roots and expertise.”
Before Sky, Barrett worked at Channel 5 for more than eight years, with his last role being head of marketing partnerships. He has also worked for Ids, Flextech and Carlton.
He said that Electric Glue had an “outstanding” reputation for partnerships and praised its B Corp status.
He added: “This felt like the perfect opportunity to make the leap from progressive media owner to innovative media agency.”
